Students take part in running event during Annual Athletic Meet at CT University |
Ludhiana, March 23, 2018 (Iqbal Happy): The sports ground of CT University was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere today as the students and faculty celebrated its Annual Athletic Meet organised by University’s Department of Sports. Almost 300 students participated in various events like 100m race, 200m, 400m race, 800m race, 1500m Race, 3000m, 5000m race, Long Jump, Relay, Shot Put, Discuss Throw and Javelin Throw for both girls and boys.
The day started with full rigor of individual class March Past followed by the oath taking ceremony at the Campus. The students took the oath in full spirit and displayed immense enthusiasm.
Ramanjot Singh of Physical Education declared Best Athlete (Male) and Arshpreet Kaur of Hotel Management was declared Best Athlete (Female). The overall trophy was lifted by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Sciences.
In 800m race for male, Ibrahim Mussa won the first position, Manpreet Singh won the second position and Flavin won the third position.
In Long Jump - boys category, Tanvir Singh won first prize, Basant Singh won second prize and Mukesh won third prize.
In the event of Shot Put for boys, Tanvir Singh won the first prize, Basant Singh second prize and Mukesh won third prize and in girls category Jaspreet Kaur grabbed first position followed by Gayatri Rai. Third position was bagged by Prabhsimran.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, HOD, Physical Education said, "Through such events, we also help our students learn values of life which get imbibed into their thinking, thus helping them succeed in all walks of life. It gives me immense pleasure to see all the students participating event in large numbers."
Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Pro Vice-Chancellor CTU said, "The events like annual athletic meet are a great source of inspiration for mental and physical development of the students." He further added that “I strongly believe that sports should be given as much importance as academic subjects. At CTU we lay special emphasis on this day which gives our students a chance to explore their innate talents as they enjoy a healthy competition with each other."
